Nutcracker Therapeutics is looking for a Bioinformatics Scientist with a demonstrated record of innovation to focus on developing software and experiments to help improve Nutcracker’s products. This person will assist with designing laboratory experiments, analyze next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, and write, test, and deploy novel software analysis pipelines in the cloud.

Responsibility:
- Collaborate with members of the Bioinformatics and IT departments to build resilient, secure, and well-documented production bioinformatics pipelines for automated data analysis.
- Work with colleagues in Research and Early Development to help design laboratory experiments, and to analyze and present ad hoc analysis of experimental NGS data.
- Support software validation activities through experimental design, analysis, and documentation.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of relevant experience in bioinformatics, either in academia or industry
- PhD or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular/Cellular biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or similar
- Extensive experience analyzing NGS data, including read trimming, mapping, and variant calling
- Strong Python programming skills and familiarity with git version control
- Familiarity with SQL
- A strong scientific foundation of keeping detailed experimental records, presenting data, and statistical data analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey ideas and data in presentations
- Excellent interpersonal skills, adept at building cross functional relationships with internal teams and external partners
Additional relevant experience in the following areas would be an advantage:
- Experience working with software in a regulated environment
- Experience working with AWS
- Experience with somatic variant calling
- Experience with DNA and RNA library preparation in a laboratory setting
- Front-end development skills
