The Computational Biology Core at Stowers Institute has a job opening for a Programmer Analyst. Stowers is a wonderful place to work with scientists studying all sorts of interesting basic research questions in a variety of model and non-model organisms. We are often pushing the boundaries of technology and exploring new methods, so there is always something new to learn. The computational biology core is a great group of people with a lot of experience who like to help each other. We do a lot of sequencing analysis, but we are not limited to one type or pipeline of data... Any type of sequencing data you can think of, single cell RNA-seq is fairly common, and we're getting into spatial transcriptomics. New types of data come in regularly, so we are always doing custom analysis and getting to try new things.
Stowers is a beautiful place, with great benefits and fringe benefits (e.g. a nice free gym including classes, free fancy coffee machine, generous retirement contributions, trips to conferences), and Kansas City has become a dynamic and interesting place to live, kind of artsy, full of good food and drink, but still affordable with many excellent school districts and easy commutes.
