I've been looking to get into the longevity research field, so this sounds like a fantastic opportunity. I noticed all of the posted bioinformatics positions specify a PhD as a requirement. Does anyone know if there is a chance of being considered with an MS? It's really looking more and more like I'll need to go and do a PhD to get to where I really want to be, but I'd like to do what I can with what I've got for now.

It doesn't hurt to apply, the worst that can happen is that you don't get the job. As far as their specific requirements, you'd likely have to ask someone at the company. IMO, you don't need a PhD to be an important member of a team. In academia, there are many labs that have research scientists with a MS in bioinformatics (mine does, for example).

A colleague recently graduated with a PhD and now works at HLI as a computational analyst.

Yay
