Hi, I'm currently pursuing a Ph.D. in microbiology and want to switch to microbiomics/metagenomics, can you please help me find some structured literature or courses in order to get into the field, everything I find on the internet rn is kinda chaotic, every course or book suggest different tools which makes things even messier.
Unfortunately the ecosystem is messy. There are lots of competing tools, bespoke analyses etc. There isn't a one-size-fits-all training you can do.
Pick any course and you'll learn the basics enough that you can then go to the literature to find the tools most relevant to what you're doing. Remember this is not static either - many entrenched tools 10 years ago are obsolete now.
Thank you, can you suggest any introductory course on this topic?
There would be no harm in starting with the Biostars Handbook. I personally think the best way to learn is by doing.
