I am just trying to understand what is the main goal of analyzing results of genes as mutated or not in specific type of cancer? as what is the main goal to know what genes have mutated ? how can we find a link between mutated genes in specific type of cancer?

perhaps a good place to start would be reading the wikipedia pages for

  • cancer
  • oncogene
  • protooncogene
  • tumor suppressor gene

if you read those, it should not be difficult to identify further articles to read that look relevant.
