Hello everyone
Quick question, I got my blastp results here using CLC. Blastp outputs in CLC are E-value, Bit score, % identity. Query coverage is not provided and I guess someone has to calculate it . So here I have a blast hit with an E-value = 0.00 , Bit score 1214. HSP length = 1 390 and Query length = 1457
To calculate query coverage, this is what I am thinking
Query coverage = (1390/1457 ) x 100
= 95 %
Is it correct ? Please I would appreciate your input!
Query coverage = (1390/1457 ) x 100 = 95 % Is it correct ?
Not necessarily. There could be enough insertions and deletions in that alignment for it to have 100% coverage.
I suggest you repeat this with standalone blastp as it will provide all the information in a nicely formatted table, if that's what you desire. Trying to figure out a substandard output that you have is likely to cause trouble. Given the speed of BLAST programs, I think it will be doable in less time than what it would take you to decipher the CLC output.
