Multiple copies of same gene annotated

After annotating my mags I found that one MAG has multiple pstS gene named as pstS_1 and pstS_2. What might be the reason behind this? Can anybody please explain. Thank you

Gene duplication.

It could be a contamination with contigs that do not belong to that bin and also happen to contain a copy of the same gene.

If they are right next to each other, it could be a missense mutation that split a gene in two parts, both of which have enough sequence length to be classified as pstS and are subsequently given _1 and _2.
