StringID to Ensembl ID

Hi,

How can I convert stringID to ensembl ID using python? The mapping identifier API convert gene symbols/ensembl ID to stringID but not vice-versa. Is there any other way?

Not a python solution but you can do this with the R bioconductor package STRINGdb. Alternatively, you can download the protein aliases data from the download section of the STRING website and write a script to extract the info you need.
