I found a study online, and the serious number is CRA001160, and the link is https://ngdc.cncb.ac.cn/gsa/browse/CRA001160. I noticed that they wrote File: CRR034530_f1.fastq.gz File: CRR034530_r2.fastq.gz. I wonder anyone saw similar fast.gz files before? Are they similar or same with our r1 and r2 files?

Thank you

Probably a typo. Compare the two files and make sure reads line up correctly.

probably not even a typo; many people believe that read 1 is "forward" and read 2 is "reverse". It seems they have also encoded that information into the file name.

In reality, while read 2 may be the reverse complement of read 1, other than that we don't know which one comes from the forward or reverse strands.
