Hello Bioinformagicians!

My goal is to create a phylogenetic tree using mitochondria genes of ticks.

I've recently use genes taken from Refseq complete genomes. However, I want to include gene sequences that may not be part of complete genomes.

How would I collect all sequences that match the genes I'm looking for from Genbank?

Thanks in advance

You would need to perform a search via NCBI web server engine to figure out the correct query. This is best done with the website, where you can easily refine the query and see the results.

Look at the advanced search tab, which explains how to build the query.

Then once you have the query, you can download the sequences online or from the command line.
