Position Description
Two postdoc positions are available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Shuai Huang at the Ohio State University. The Huang lab of plant systems immunology focuses on the molecular and biochemical mechanisms of phase-separated assemblies in plant health and disease. There are three main directions of research in the lab: 1) systems approach for a detailed understanding of phase separation control of gene expression; 2) molecular, cellular and biochemical characterization of defense signal flow through membrane-less condensates; 3) bioengineering and synthetic approaches of immune condensates to benefit agriculture and human health. We are seeking highly self-motivated applicants for some very exciting new projects. More information can be found on our website: www.thehuanglab.net.
Qualifications
- The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree by the time of hire in plant molecular biology, cell biology, plant genetics, biochemistry or a closely related field.
- High motivation in plant research with excellent problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills, and ability to work independently and cooperatively.
- Proven experience (e.g., first-author publications) in plant molecular genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, genetic engineering, and/or biotechnology.
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience in next generation sequencing and cell imaging techniques.
Expectations
Positivity – Maintain a positive outlook and courtesy for all lab, perform active mentorship of junior lab members and be a good collaborator and team player.
Persistence – Be persistent in scientific discoveries and relentlessly push the boundary of human knowledge.
