I'm trying to create an alignment with two sequences in Mauve (Windows) and keep getting error code 3. I tried using different formats for my sequences, but that didn't seem to change anything. I saw someone on a forum say that this may be due to using the 32-bit version instead of the 64-bit. I am pretty sure I am using the 64-bit version already. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. The error code is pasted below.

Error code I keep receiving:

The error message "Unable to open output file" suggests that there may be an issue with the file path or permissions. Double-check that you have permission to write files to the location you are trying to save the output files in, and that the location has enough free space.

If the issue persists, you can try running Mauve as an administrator. To do so, right-click on the Mauve icon and select "Run as administrator".

Alternatively, you can try using a different output file name or saving the output files in a different location. Make sure that the file name does not contain any special characters or spaces, as this can sometimes cause issues.

If none of these solutions work, you can try reinstalling Mauve and ensuring that you download and install the 64-bit version.

Lastly, it is worth noting that Mauve is no longer being actively developed and there may be better alternatives available for sequence alignment.
