Hi all,

I was just wondering if someone knew the amount of sequences contained in refseq.genomes.k21.s1000.msh. In any case, if someone could point me how to know this from the file itself, that would also be great.

Thanks!

What is this refseq.genomes.k21.s1000.msh? Please add as much context as you can.

Looks like someone asked the developers about this indirectly last year but the question was never answered: https://github.com/marbl/Mash/issues/177

If you knew the version of RefSeq used to build the file then you can probably look up the number of sequences from RefSeq release notes.

Thanks GenoMax, I have the version number, your RefSeq release notes gave me all the information I needed.

Many thanks again!

You're right, at the moment I upvoted GenoMax's comment I actually looked for the solved question button but didn't see it. I just accepted the answer as the solution.
