I don't want to believe the Interproscan DB estimated download time.

Interproscan in Blast2go is too slow, so I am trying to download the Interproscan DB at the same time as scanning against the CDD and HMMPfam DB only here: https://interproscan-docs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/LocalLookupService.html

Two hours after starting the download, the screen I saw was...

https://ftp.ebi.ac.uk/pub/software/unix/iprscan/5/5.62-94.0/lookup_service_5.62-94.0.tar.gz
Resolving ftp.ebi.ac.uk (ftp.ebi.ac.uk)... 193.62.193.138
Connecting to ftp.ebi.ac.uk (ftp.ebi.ac.uk)|193.62.193.138|:443... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 1574501425466 (1.4T) [application/x-gzip]
Saving to: 'lookup_service_5.62-94.0.tar.gz'
lookup_service_5.62-94.0.tar. 0%[ ] 1.64G 216KB/s eta 77d 17h

Why is it too slow? Maybe because I work in Korea? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks!

With aria2 and multiple connections, I download at ~2.2MiB. The estimate is still ~190 hours.

aria2c --continue=true --max-connection-per-server=8 --min-split-size=1M https://ftp.ebi.ac.uk/pub/software/unix/iprscan/5/5.62-94.0/lookup_service_5.62-94.0.tar.gz

It might be your university proxy server.

You can try with wget --no-proxy https://ftp.ebi.ac.uk/pub/software/unix/iprscan/5/5.62-94.0/lookup_service_5.62-94.0.tar.gz (if allowed) or trying from your home PC and transferring by hard disk if all else fails.

Else talk to your local IT people to better understand why it is so slow.

Speed increased up to 200 KB/s. Thank you! I will try to do from my home also.

EBI appears to be limiting download speed. As you can see this download is 1.4 TB so this is going to take days (I see ~640 KB/s max). You may want to email their support and ask if there are any other options.
