Forum:where to work as a bioinformatician (NGS/IA)

Hi everyone, sorry if this is not the appropiate place to post such a question, but this topic is driving me insane and need to hear expert voices on the topic.

I'm a Bioinformatician (MSc) with experience in omics, machine learning (although in R) and SQL, and I'm looking for postings in the enterprise (so no PhD or academy stuff).

A Quick search in google threw me a list of six (6)!!! Enterprises in my home country. I am open to work remotely for other countries, so that's a silver lining.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong, perhaps I am looking for something that is barely profitable in an enterprise, but I know for a fact that it is my dream job (had it once).

It is frustrating since some postings I saw require a full-on PhD to work in my field of expertise, whereas in order to work for a bank, you just need the will to learn a new posting (my current situation).

What are your opinions on the topic? Any help would be much, much appreciated! I'm truly lost

I mean, it's a shortage of work force everywhere. Why not just finding a job that sounds attractive and send in an application, no matter whether you meet the "formal" requirements. Show what your expertise is and what you can bring in, at best some proven expertise like software projects or publications, and see whether they interview you.

For the US at least most biopharma job postings will be on linkedin. Entry level for MSc would be a research associate I-III positions.

Irrespective of the specifics you are asking for, Linkedin is a great platform where you can request common connections for a recommendation in real time. I did it several times and it helped me.

There are certainly recession problems now, but that shouldn't deter you to apply with a good cover and CV. Please ensure the CV speaks about achievements NOT just the experience!

Not to take away from your experience but LinkedIn has become a cesspool of late. Job groups are full of spammers and the regular feed is full of influencers. Given the lack of good competition, there is no incentive for Microsoft to do anything about improving the LinkedIn experience.
