Hello, I want to upload 1TB of files to ENA (European Nucleotide Archive) using aspera. I have installed aspera from ibm-aspera-connect_4.2.8.540_linux_x86_64.tar.gz. As per ENA tutorial (https://ena-docs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/submit/fileprep/upload.html) I have used this command to upload a test file under my existing webin account

ascp -QT -l300M N049_EKDN230024997-1A_HHG3HDSX7_L1_1.fq.gz Webin-XXXXX@webin.ebi.ac.uk:.

This prompts me for my passwd which it appears to accept but then gives this error

Session Stop (Error: Failure processing peer license: Deprecated peer license)

Using

ascp -QT -l300M -L- N049_EKDN230024997-1A_HHG3HDSX7_L1_1.fq.gz Webin-XXXXX@webin.ebi.ac.uk:.

gives me the following logs

------------------------------------------------------------------
LOG Configuration: using v2 configuration file
".aspera/connect/etc/aspera.conf", user -
LOG Initializing FASP version 4.3.0.93, license max rate=(unlimited), account no.=1, license no.=54 product=54

LOG changing session job size from 0 to 2 to match server configuration

I think its a problem with the authenication keys but can anyone advise further?

Other posts mention having the file asperaweb_id_dsa.openssh as part of the aspera install but I only get this if I install an older version - the 4.2.8.540 version does not install this file.

Thank you

Have you tried with older versions? As in Setting up Aspera Connect (ascp) on Linux and macOS ?

I had an older version of ascp but it gave the exact same error.

$ascp --version
IBM Aspera Cargo version 4.1.3.93
ascp version 4.3.0.93

I have the exact same error now (though I'm trying to download data), maybe it's something with the ENA server problem. But following ATpoint's instruction above haven't made any error till yesterday.

I got this same error today too when trying to download data. It was working yesterday for me.

Sounds like an ENA problem then. Would probably email the helpdesk if it persists.

Could you please upgrade the IBM Aspera Desktop Client to the latest version (4.4.3) by following the download link below:

https://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/swg/selectFixes?parent=ibm~Other%20software[…]Aspera%20Desktop%20Client&release=All&platform=All&function=all

We have tested today that 4.4.3 version works (in contrast e.g. version 3.9.6 fails).

Best wishes, Rasko

I have a received a word that a server side fix has been deployed. We have confirmed that e.g. ascp version 3.9.6 works once more.

Best wishes, Rasko
