What does it means, when 2-direction perturbed pathways are identified in the gage enrichment analysis?

The gage method for enrichment analysis using ENTREZ Ids emphasizes on its capability to test for changes not only for up- and down-regulated pathways, but also for those with a 2-directional change.

I don't understand what this means biologically. Does it mean that the pathway is being significantly deregulated in both directions simultaneously, or that it contains genes that that show a deregulation in both directions?

thanks
