Hi, I am working with TCGA pan-can data for methylation data, and am mapping the probes to gene ids. But I find many probes with one to many mapping for gene as in the examples below:

cg16159313: ABHD14A-ACY1,ACY1,ABHD14B

cg02717570: ABHD15-AS1,ANKRD13B,GIT1

cg15206330: TP53;WRAP53

I want to understand why is this so, and what can be done to get single gene mapping for each probe?

overlapping genes, or probe near multiple genes. This is quite common.
