Hi everybody. I have an issue with Ubuntu. Every time I launch a tools from terminal (for example Trycycler, htop, flye etc), it crashes. Actually I have installed Ubuntu on external hard disk. I know that is not the best solution but for what I'm working it should be just fine. I'm working with the assembly of genomes and annotation.
ps: when it crash an alert says "force quit or send problem". Whatever I choose it crashes anyway.
So this is not really a bioinformatics question or problem, rather a hardware/OS issue. You will likely get better advice and opinions from https://askubuntu.com/. I suspect you are using up all your I/O bandwidth on the USB, especially when doing highly compute intensive operations (genome assembly).
'cause i'm doing a stage in my university and i'll not buy a better pc or modify mine for it. However my colleague have ubuntu on external hdd as well and it works just fine. Virtual machine isn't the good solution for my jobs.
Thank you for the advice!
