The Institute of Biomedical Informatics at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join a research project in the field of enzyme engineering. This project leverages deep mutational scanning assays and Oxford Nanopore sequencing (ONT) data to investigate, through machine learning, the impact of distant amino acid interactions on enzyme function.

Candidates should have:

  • A Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Informatics in the Natural Sciences, Applied Computer Sciences, Molecular Biology, or Biomedical Engineering (or eligibility for the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Engineering at TU Graz).
  • Strong computational skills and experience with bioinformatics tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • A passion for research and willingness to learn.
