A dedicated laboratory in Milan is seeking a passionate Bioinformatician to join their team, focusing on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying Multiple Sclerosis. This laboratory conducts genetic studies aimed at unraveling the complexities of the disease, contributing to innovative research that could lead to improved understanding and treatment options.

Position Overview:

In this role, you will work closely with a team of researchers to analyze high-throughput genomic data. You will apply your bioinformatics skills to perform various types of sequencing analysis and manage complex workflows, helping drive forward research initiatives that are at the forefront of neuroscience and immunology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform next-generation sequencing (NGS) analyses, including exome sequencing, RNA sequencing, and whole genome sequencing.
  • Utilize a workflow management system (e.g., Slurm) to handle computational tasks on a cluster environment.
  • Develop and implement bioinformatics pipelines, applying knowledge of Python, Perl, and R to conduct data analysis and visualize results.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and contribute insights to support ongoing genetic studies in Multiple Sclerosis research.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in bioinformatics, particularly in analyzing NGS data.
  • Proficiency with workflow management in cluster computing environments (preferably Slurm).
  • Strong programming skills in Python or Perl, and R.
  • A genuine passion for research and a drive to understand the intricacies of Multiple Sclerosis.
