tRNA nomenclature / numbering conventions

Hi Biostars,

I'm wondering if there is guidance for the numbering of tRNAs, for example with 'tRNA-Gly-GCC-2-4' how was it decided that 2 and 4 was the appropriate numbering. Does this have meaning? Bonus points if you can point me to an automated tool for this.
