Comparison of metabolic data between groups (WT vs KO)

Hello everyone,

I’m working on a dataset of metabolic data collected during a 48-hour experiment. The data was recorded every 2 minutes and 30 seconds, resulting in a large number of time points. There are 8 mice in total, divided into two groups: WT (n=4) and KO (n=4). My goal is to compare certain metabolic measures between the two groups to identify significant differences.

I’m considering using statistical methods suited for repeated measures (e.g., linear models or repeated measures ANOVA), but I’m unsure of the best approach in this context.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice!

I would use limma which is based on linear models and supports experimental designs of arbitrary complexity. Do you want to model the data as any specific time series pattern such as circadian or just any differences? At best you do a paired analysis per mouse which is most powerful if all mice have all timepoints.
