The Center for Biomarker Research and Precision Medicine (BPM, https://bpm.pharmacy.vcu.edu/) at Virginia Commonwealth University is searching for a motivated research fellow to join our team. Our research program aims to alleviate the tremendous personal, familial, and societal burden of mental illness and substance use disorders by using state-of-the-art technologies to identify molecular markers that can be used to develop new medications and tailor treatments to individual patients.

We are conducting multiple large-scale single-nucleus transcriptomic and epigenomic studies using human samples to investigate disorders such as autism, alcohol use disorder, schizophrenia, and suicide. We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to perform statistical and bioinformatics analyses on the generated data, contribute to the maintenance and optimization of analysis pipelines, and publish findings in leading scientific journals. Candidates must hold a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field. Proficiency in Linux/Unix and R is essential. Additionally, strong written English skills are required.

This highly multidisciplinary and collaborative project involves both local and external partners. The position is initially for two years and provides excellent opportunities for publishing research articles and advancing career development.

Interested applicants should submit their applications following the listed instructions at: https://vcu.csod.com/ux/ats/careersite/1/home/requisition/6699?c=vcu.
