Lab page: https://u.osu.edu/palmisanolab/

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated bioinformatician to join our lab as junior postdoctoral or research associate 2. The ideal candidate must be prepared to lead with independence and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership in their work. Extremely ambitious, forward-thinking, committed, skilled and passionate candidates are invited to apply.

Our research focuses on unravelling the complex mechanisms underlying epigenetic regulation and chromatin states in relation to neuronal response to injuries, particularly in spinal cord and peripheral nerve damage. These injuries can lead to significant neurological impairments and debilitating conditions, primarily due to insufficient axonal regeneration and disrupted connectivity. Additionally, we investigate how prevalent factors such as obesity, diabetes, and aging severely hinder the nervous system repair capabilities. Our ultimate goal is to identify key epigenetic, metabolic, and transcriptional pathways that can be targeted to help reprogram neurons into a state that supports regeneration and repair. We are committed to establishing a dynamic international lab that will lead to groundbreaking advancements! We employ mouse models of obesity, peripheral neuropathy, peripheral nerve and spinal cord injuries, and we utilize methodologies from biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, as well as neuro-epigenetics and omics approaches, including RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CUT&Tag, CUT&Run, Hi-C, and proteomics.

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated junior postdoctoral researcher. The ideal candidate must have both wet lab and computational skills, be prepared to lead with independence and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership in their work. Extremely ambitious, forward-thinking, committed, skilled and passionate candidates are invited to apply.
