Trouble when uploading FASTQ files on NCBI

Hello,

I've followed the NCBI tutorial ( https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/geo/info/seq.html ) to upload RNAseq data.

However, when trying to actually upload the file containing my fastqs on Filezilla, I get this after a minute or so :

Status: Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS.
Status: Logged in
Status: Starting upload of Path\1_R1.fastq.gz
Status: Connection closed by server

I don't get this error when uploading small files but fastqs seem not to pass. NCBI says the limit is 2 terabytes but my files are way less than that. Any idea of how I could fix it ?

Thank you

This may be hard to help/diagnose for biostar community since we don't know about your local set up. Problem could be on either end (your or NCBI). Perhaps your local firewall is cutting off the transfer when it goes for a certain time/goes over a size or something on NCBI end may be broken.

Email SRA/GEO help desk and go from there.

Not solving this particular problem but merely a suggestion:

Given your 'location' you might also consider uploading data to ENA / arrayExpress (annotare) ,the european version database thus.

I feel this is often more straightforward to do than to upload to NCBI/GEO

Thanks to those who replied, the problem is solved and I'll just mention it in case anybody gets the same problem : Actually despite the "Connection closed by server" message the transfer was still ongoing and I was able to complete it.
