Drug information databases

Hi All

I have a list of drugs for which I would like to know all the possible existing information in public domain. What are the good databases to mine for this?

I am aware of PharmGKB but I am sure there are many others out there. At this point I am not looking for a specific information but the goal is to collate any public information about these drugs.

Can you explain what you mean with public domain? Because some of the answers have data not in the public domain, like KEGG.

UPDATE: Have a look at Open Targets and its Target Validation platform. Data is available via our API as well.

You should have a look at Open PHACTS which is collecting data resources with public data (varying, but mostly formal Open Data). There are various "clients" (R, Bioclipse, various websites, ...), all using the same API (free to use, but needs registration).

If I want to know something about a drug, first place I go to is DrugBank.

The NIH's National Library of Medicine has a web application called "Pillbox", which links to a Drug Information Portal with information available for ~23k drugs.

In the United States, the FDA has a National Drug Code database, as well as a Drugs@FDA database. The database of reference in the UK is the British National Formulary.
