Hello,

I have decided to do some courses on AI and Machine learning. My long term goal is to use ML for omics data analysis. A search in google resulted in a large number of courses and I am not really sure which to go for, given that I do not get much time outside my lab hours. I have the basics in Statistics, Python and R.

Any suggestions for AI/ML in data science etc. is greatly appreciated.

I tried the Python ML basics course on coursera and it's pretty good, at least as far as showcasing the basics. It uses numpy/scipy and sklearn, but the concepts are solid.

Getting started with Bioinformatics is a long and exciting journey given that you are guided well in the right direction and are provided with excellent resources.

For any beginner getting started with ML/AI in bioinformatics, would be to get a stronghold of Python and R for both of them provide powerful packages to assist you in your ML/AI journey, especially R if we talk about bioinformatics.

For getting started with R, you could take the R Programming Course by John Hopkins University on Coursera. Once you get a basic understanding of the language you could move up the ladder and take the Genomic Data Science Specialization Course by John Hopkins University on Coursera. This would familiarize you with BioPython and some powerful R packages like Bioconductor for your initial steps into genomic data analysis.
